January 6, – April 7, 2019

We want to challenge you to start tithing, and see God begin blessing your life as you commit to healthy financial stewardship.

How? We’re asking you to commit to take 10% of your total income for the next 90 days and give it to God through the church.

Who? Tithing is God’s plan for every follower of Christ. Tithing is 10% of your income not just regular or spontaneous giving in the church offering.

When? The 90 Day Challenge will begin January 6, 2019 and will end April 7, 2019.

Why? The only thing in the Bible that God says to test Him on is tithing. We believe in it so strongly that we want to give you the opportunity to take God at His Word. God promises to take care of your financial needs when you trust Him by giving Him the first ten percent. He promises He will take care of all of our needs, you may not get a raise or a new car, but God will take care of your needs.

Then what? We understand that giving away 10% of your income can be a big (and often frightening) commitment! That’s why we created the 90 Day Tithing Challenge. It’s a contract based on the promises of God in Malachi 3:10-11.

You’ve Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers! Here’s a short list of questions you might have about the 90 Day Challenge and tithing in general. If you have any other questions that aren’t answered here, please feel free to call us at 479.782.9121.

What is tithing? The word “tithe” is derived from the Hebrew word ma’aser and it literally means a tenth. Ten  percent of everything belongs to the Lord. In Malachi 3:10-11, God says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house.” The ‘storehouse’ is the Old Testament picture of the New Testament church. So as New Testament believers, we worship the Lord with the tithe; or the ten percent.

What is the difference between a tithe and an offering? The tithe is 10% of your income. God says that He has given us all that we own, and that the first 10% is dedicated to Him, and we are to be faithful in “bringing the tithe.” Offerings are any   generous giving that you do over and above your tithe. And while your tithe is designated for the local church, an offering is for you to be generous wherever you see a need. Many followers of Christ confuse giving regularly with tithing, and while giving regularly is highly commendable, and it is a big step in and of itself, tithing is taking a full 10% of your paycheck, and giving it to the local church in order to be an important part of building God’s Kingdom.

How do I participate in the 90 Day Tithe Challenge? The first step is for you to sign up using a 90 Day Tithing Challenge card. You can get one at the ET Lobby Desk or any of our pastors. The last step is to give your full 10% of your income from each paycheck. We have made giving as easy as we can for you. You can choose to give in person in the offering plate using cash or a check, debit card (at the Lobby Desk), mail a check, or safely online using PushPay or PayPal. If you have any questions about giving, please call Lyn at 479.782.9121.

What are the benefits of tithing? Tithing carries multiple facets that will benefit your life. First, God commands it and any time we take God at His word we are using faith, and faith can move mountains. God promises to “open up the windows of Heaven and pour out a blessing on you.” In the book of Matthew, Jesus tells us that if we look after God’s Kingdom first, that He will provide for our physical needs. Also, in this country, when you give to a not-for-profit organization (like Evangel Temple), you receive a tax benefit. At the end of the year, Evangel Temple will provide you with records of the total amount you have given over the year. When you file your taxes, your charitable donations are tax-deductible.

We can’t wait to see how God blesses you! Get ready for miracles!
