Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Evangel Temple is to Evangelize the Lost, Edify the Saints, and Exalt Jesus Christ.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Pastor Matthew Stevenson, Associate Pastor and Youth Pastor
Reverend Matthew Stevenson
Matthew Stevenson was born and raised in Malvern, AR attending Malvern First Assembly of God. He was raised in church his whole life, but in his teen years ran from the calling God had put in his heart as a freshman in high school. While training to become a chef and living a “partying” lifestyle, God revisited Matthew and in 2004 he got tired of running from God and threw up his arms of rebellion and surrendered to Jesus Christ. It wasn’t long before The Holy Spirit started stirring his affections to see people to be saved and for preaching and teaching God’s Word. Matthew began working part-time on staff at Malvern First Assembly as the assistant youth pastor to Micah May. After a year of training, in 2006 he took the full-time youth pastor position at Evangel Temple Fort Smith, AR and served as the student pastor for four years. In 2010 Matthew stepped down and took a year off to study theology at Ouachita Baptist University, but he couldn’t shake his desire for people and pastoring, so he returned to Evangel Temple in 2012 where he currently serves as the Associate Pastor and Youth Pastor. Matthew looks forward to seeing people of the River Valley saved and discipled for the Glory of God.  Matthew and his wife, Emily, make their home in Van Buren.  They have a toddler, Kennedy.

The Murphys have come on staff at E.T. to be the Family Pastors and help people find connections in this church family.  They believe it is important to the spiritual growth of the body of Christ to be connected as much as possible.  Leading Small Group ministries is a large part of helping people get connected to Christ and the Church.  Going forward, they hope to impact the church greatly by being involved as much as possible in multiple areas in the church.  They have two grown daughters, Hannah and Rachel.
